How to Use the Facebook Business Page Post Scheduling Tool

By Cindy Ratzlaff August 15, 2012

Maximum visibility for your business or brand is both a marketing and a publicity strategy.  Here’s a tip that’s easy to implement from my Maximum Visibility Playbook favorites for the week.

The Facebook Post Scheduling Tool

Facebook now allows business page admins and owners to pre-schedule their posts up to 6 months in advance. For entrepreneurs and solo-preneurs, this is a time saving tool that will make their social media efforts easier and more efficient.

The help center on Facebook outlines detailed directions, but here are the highlights.

The Facebook Post Scheduling Tool helps entrepreneurs organize their marketing message delivery.

In the lower left hand corner of the status update box, locate the icon shaped like a clock. Click on the icon to reveal the option to add a year, month, day, hour and minute for your post.

Once you’ve selected your ideal posting schedule, the option to schedule will replace the word “post.”

Next choose whether or not you’ll promote the post with ad dollars and whether or not the post is public or to a selected list.  Now add your post and link or image and finally, press schedule. The post will go live at the scheduled time.

Once you’ve scheduled a post for your Page, you’ll get a pop up message confirming the details.

You can access your activity log at any time before the post goes live and make changes, delete or post immediately.

The activity log is easily accessed from a Facebook Fan Page Admin Panel, which you’ll find in the upper-right hand corner of your page.  Select “Use Activity Log” to see all pre-scheduled posts.

This pre-scheduling option is an ideal way to plan out and pre-load your marketing messages, cover communications during a sale or launch, make sure your page is active during vacations and save time in distributing quality content from your blog or website over the course of several days.  The pre-schedule option works best if you are using an editorial or marketing calendar.

Start using the Facebook Fan Page Scheduling Tool now and let me know how it works for you or if you have any questions.  Visibility, consistency, and quality are cornerstones of a good personal and business brand strategy and this new Facebook Business Page tool is a welcome addition to the entrepreneurs toolkit.

You are simply the most brilliant! All the joy has come out of my social media lately because it just seems to have gotten cumbersome for me. I get on and 20 minutes later, I still haven’t posted anything intelligent OR relating to my brand then I suddenly find myself out of time. This will make my life so much easier and my social media strategy so much more effective! Thank you, Cindy!

I love this tool for exactly that reason. Pre-plan and pre-schedule and THEN go down the rabbit hole for a bit! Thank you for leaving a comment Ronda. I love knowing that the tools and tips I write about are useful to people.
