4 Great Marketing Ideas Your Business Can Use Now

By Cindy Ratzlaff July 31, 2012

Every day thousands of fantastic articles and marketing ideas for entrepreneurs and small business owners come streaming onto the web, and throughout social media. What’s a busy entrepreneur to do.  You can’t read everything.  You can email yourself great links to articles you want to read later or save the links to a private circle on G+ or even bookmark them for handy reference. I use the G+ strategy most of the time and add sites that regularly deliver to my Google Reader account.

For those who haven’t yet figured out how to scan the headlines and save the best for later, here are a few ideas are so creative and useful that I want to make sure you don’t miss them.  I’ve added short introductory paragraph to tell you why they’re worth your time to click through and read and possibly save. But all of these have ideas that you can use, right now, to amp up the action on your marketing.

These ideas are quick, easy and brilliant. Don’t delay. Act on these now.

Grow Your Blog Subscription Base

Turn Twitter followers into blog subscribers in two easy steps. This is so elegant and simple I’m frankly jealous I didn’t think of it myself.  The author suggests creating a landing page on your blog for your Twitter followers who click through from your live bio link.  That landing page has a special note to Twitter followers and gives a clear call to action about subscribing to the blog.  Would I be repeating myself if I said “brilliant?”

Pinterest for Business

The 10 Commandments for Using Pinterest for Business written by Donna Moritz on Amy Porterfield’s blog, outlines the why and the how of adding Pinterest icons to your website and other social media sites as well as using the Pin It bookmarklet. The article also outlines how to connect your account to Facebook and more. Pinterest now has more than 20 million users, up from 700,000 just a year ago.  This is a massive social platform worthy of your attention for marketing.

Foursquare’s New Merchant Tools

Lauren Drell shares a step by step walk through of the new merchant tools available for bricks and mortar businesses to use on Foursquare. If you have a business where people can physically come and talk to you or buy a product, you should read this article and consider the high level of visibility and customer engagement possible with Foursquare. Giving preferred discounts to people who “check in” and spread the word about your business is a powerful word of mouth advertising opportunity that just got better with these new tools.

Add a Transcript to YouTube Videos for Added SEO

OK, I admit this isn’t even an article but it’s still a brilliant (if I do say so myself) and easy tip on how to increase the search engine optimization or SEO of your YouTube marketing videos.  YouTube and Google index your title and tags but did you know that by adding a transcript you make every single word you say in your video part of the indexed keywords?  Watch this short video and employ this strategy yourself.  By the way, you can get a transcript of any video inexpensively through Fiverr.com, save it as a text file and voila, you’re a YouTube SEO pro.

Have any brilliant ideas you’d like to share? Let’s inspire one another.

Thanks Coulson, I thought the idea of a special landing page on our websites for Twitter followers was brilliant too. I just love finding surprising, easy to implement, useful information and passing it on to my readers. Thank you, by the way, for taking the time to let me know which tips were most exciting for you.
