Bacon is cropping up in vodka, champagne, chocolate and a wide variety of other ingestibles in Q4 2009. It’s possible that this comfort food flavor is meant to evoke a feeling of budget indulgence for consumers with a touch of “I deserve this” when combined with vodka, chocolate or ice cream. Many last quarter trends tell us that consumers are still feeling the pinch of recession but want to treat themselves IF the price is right. It’s time to think about what your brand can offer the bacon crowd. Does your book open a doorway into a gentler time or help the reader sharpen their minds and bodies for the race to recovery? As you prepare your 2010 messaging strategy ask yourself how can I ease the burden for potential clients while still retaining that great taste of bacon? What occasional luxury can I offer; even if that luxury is an oasis of time spent seeing a world through the eyes of a great writer. What will you offer?
